Zeebra, a J-hip-hop artist, debuted in 1995 and one of the members of a famous j-hop-hop group, King Giddra. Zeebra, sometimes dubbed the first Japanese rapper for all the activity he did pertaining to the first ever J-rap (radio influences and commercials), went solo in 1997.

With his first solo tour in 1998, his popularity grew, being used in NBA games and Nike promos, even breaking the top 50 for singles of that year. After temporarily rejoining King Giddra, he is still going strong solo today. He still appears in magazines and is a heavy influence in the J-rap scene, even opening for an American rapper.

My Thoughts

I wasn’t very impressed with Zeebra. His music is very similar to American rap and there isn’t anything unique about it. He’s just another face in the hip hop/rap scene.
