Profile
Yura Yura Teikoku are a psychedelic band from Tokyo who formed in 1989. They were originally a four-piece band and were huge in the Tokyo underground. They released two albums off of their own Jigoku label until signing with Captain Trip Records. In 1992, their second guitarist left and they went through a series of drummers before settling on Ichiro Shibata. In 1998 they made their major label debut with MIDI Records, and released 333. They became an overnight hit. The press loved them, their songs appeared in Karaoke bars, and soon they were selling out shows. They released three more studio albums with MIDI until they signed with Sony in 2005 when they released another album, Sweet Spot.

Thoughts
Yura Yura Teikokus sound is one that youll either love or hate. Their music has a very odd psychedelic sound, and laid back vocals that give the band a very unique sound. However, if you are looking for bands with solid melodies or catchy lyrics, then you will not enjoy this band.
