Profile
Yum! Yum! Orange first began in 1999 as a seven-member group (with a saxophone player and a different vocalist). As a self-proclaimed "girl pop meets ska" band, Y!Y!O stepped into and redefined musical territory that had been first breached by the likes of the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.
In 2000 the band released two demo tapes and played at small-scale lives, while slowly but surely gaining a positive reputation. In the following years Y!Y!O would work with bands such as B-Dash, 175R, Shaka Labbits, and Stance Punks in various compilations and events.
Their first single, titled "Letter", was released in June of 2002, and "ORANGE STREET 33", their first album, was put out the following October. Both did fairly well on music charts and in sales.
Since then, Y!Y!O has changed vocalists and dropped the saxophone, and have remained as the six-member band we all know and love for over a year. Their recent escapades include their popular "ORANGE FUNKY RADIO TOUR" all over Japan, which aired on October 15, 2005 in Nagoya. The band is still going strong and playing at many lives these days, although they are on a much grander scale now than they were 5 years ago.

My Thoughts
If you like bands like Shakalabbits or 175R, then you will love Yum! Yum! Orange :D YYO is a great ska band, with especially talented brass instrument players! The one noticeable difference with this band is that Kumis vocals are a bit softer than your average ska singer. Nonetheless, this is a great band you need to try!
