Your Song Is Good formed in January 1998 in Tokyo, consisting of the four members of NUTS&MILK, Reiji Tanaka, Kouji Shiraishi, Masatomo Yoshizawa and Takeo Matsumura, and Jun Saitou of FRUITY. During 1998/1999 the band played a mix of pop punk and emo with Jun Saitou being the vocalist and band leader. However, he soon changed to be the keyboardist.The band submitted their first demo to "After Hours Magazine" in January 2000 and soon after this, in May, trombonist Yasuhiko Hattori joined. Following this, Your Song Is Good were the support band for Dylan Group in a performance in Japan in June and the band often played lives with hardcore and emo bands such as Envy, Blue Beard and Nine Days Wonder.
In 2001, the group decided on a slight change in direction musically, changing to a more ska-influenced sound and Saitou went from being the keyboardist to playing the Hammond organ. Their popularity increased, as did the number of lives they played and they supported TRISTEZA on their Japanese tour.
March 2002 saw the release of the band’s first 7" single "Big Stomach, Big Mouth", which was released through Kakubarhythm. Impressively, the single sold out in one week. They then released their first CD single "Come On" in August of that year and continued to grow in popularity. Their next release was their second 7" single, "Goodbye" which was a live only release, and that too sold out in just one week.
In 2003 the band branched out from the ska/rock steady and club scene to bigger and more mainstream venues. "SUPER SOUL MEETIN’", the band’s third 7" single was released in September and once again, it sold out. In this year, the band also appeared on the compilation CD "Dive into Disney" with a cover of "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid.
In summer 2004, the song "Relaxin’" from the "Come On" single was featured as the ending theme of Fuji TV’s "Gokigenyou". They also performed at the outdoor festival "Raw Life" and released their first full-length album, "Your Song Is Good" in October.
2005 saw the band playing at some notable large-scale outdoor festivals such as "Fujirock Festival ’05", "Festa de RAMA", "Rising Sun Rock Festival", "Sunset Live" and "Blue Trip". Saitou also VJed for Space Shower TV, along with Tooru Hidaka of Beat Crusaders.
The band made their majors debut in 2006 and are currently on Universal Records.

Thoughts
Your Song is Good is a pretty decent band. Their music ranges from ska, to jazz, pop, and rock. The wide variety they provide, makes their songs quite unique and successful. YSIG has also worked with other bands like Beat Crusaders in the past, to create some very good songs like "Fool Groove".Click to read/add your opinion!
