Woundeep was formed in 2003 by Toshiyasu (ex-vocalist of Vomit Remnants) and Akito. Akito had been friends with Masafumi and Mashiro for a while, and invited them to join the band. Yoshiki was later recruited by Akito in 2004.

In late 2003, Woundeep joined Unmatched Brutality Records (from the US). They began to do lives in Japan and also performed at the Tokyo Deathfest.

Currently Woundeep has three demo tapes out and is working on new songs. Kei Tsukata has replaced Toshiyasu as Woundeep’s vocalist and Akito is now writing the lyrics.

Thoughts

A very talented band who play brutal death metal very well. Though they aren’t heavily unique or try to ‘bring anything new to the table’, they play ‘the same old’ brutal death with exceptional prowess. A very good band and highly recommended.
