She-Ja, the guitarist of this band, is probably my favorite. Although he was in Gargoyle, the style of music simply didn’t let him express his pure greatness, but that is not so in this band. He studied traditional shredding off the typical guitar heros of that year mixed with the amazing neo-classical talents of the era as well. What this means is his guitar work starts traditional, but will become extremely neo-classical, then traditional in the blink of an eye. This band also combines the talents of an amazingly good drummer (also in Gargoyle, however the same is true with him that is with She-Ja) with great double bass control and speed as well as a very good guitarist, and the same type of manly vocals Gargoyle has.

As for how this band formed, it is highly unknown. When Nov quit AION, he wished to form another band. But he couldn’t find anybody "worthy". Eventually he came across two amazing talents: She-Ja and Katsuji. Whether they had quit Gargoyle to join this band or quit previously, they joined this band and formed it in 1999. They signed with Shrapnel, eventually.

My Thoughts

Volcano is an interesting band. The guitarist, She-ja, is incredible! In the song "Ghost", I picked a section where She-ja solos that is amazing. On the other hand, Nov’s voice is too rough and brings down the level of the music in my opinion.
