Profile
Starting from Ahito Inazawas decision to leave the band ZAZEN BOYS in early 2005, VOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINE was born from Inazawas desire to create his own style of music. Wanting to pay tribute to his new-wave/post-punk influences, Inazawa decided to assume the moniker of VOLA, named after the soccer team VOLA F.C. However, instead of continuing on the drums that he is so well known in Japan for playing, Inazawa decided to try picking up the guitar and playing the role of the frontman this time around. He proceeded to recruit Aoki Yutaka from the band downy, Arie Yoshinori from the band LOST IN TIME, and Daiki Nakahata from the band Syrup16g to join him in this new project. The band produced their debut mini-album "WAITING FOR MY FOOD" a year after forming, which was received quite well. Later on that year, the band went on to release their first single "Hane no Hikari" and even went on to play at the 2006 ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL. VOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINEs first full-length album "ANDROID ~like a house mannequin~" was released in 2007.

Thoughts
This band is a breath of fresh air in the rock realm. Their music is unique, features quirky rhythms between the guitar and drums, and interesting themes. The lyrics are a bit quirky and odd as well, but fit nicely with the music. This is a good band to listen to!
