Profile

Vividblaze was formed in 2004 with Tezuka Miho on vocals, Okano Yasunari on keyboard, and Agatsuma Yasuhiko on bass. In addition to arranging the "soft and relaxing" bossa nova sounds of the band, group leader Okano has also composed songs for Nakashima Mika and Aikawa Nanase. Vividblaze released their first mini album "Marin" in July 2004 and subsequently participated in the Tokyo Bossa Nova music festival. The band reached number three on the USEN indies request chart.

In 2005 they released their second mini album "Snow Harp," whose title song was selected by Aoyama Bell Commons as their 2005 Christmas campaign song. The song "Snow Harp" also ranked in the top 20 on radio station FM NORTH WAVE, and the band followed up with their first live in Hokkaido.

Their most recent release is Vividblaze’s first full album, a 13-track CD entitled "PERIDOT." Most of the tracks are new releases but a few come from their previous mini albums. The band will also perform at a gig in Shibuya on June 29.

Thoughts

Vividblaze is a very nice contemporary jazz band. Their compositions have a very relaxed feel, and often feature the piano, bass, and some brass instruments. Their vocalist adds a nice touch to the songs, and sounds best when she sings in lower octaves (as demonstrated in "History" ).
