Profile
Velvet Eden was originally formed in 1998 as a gothic electronic duo with Dada in charge of the vocals and lyrics, and Kalm on keyboard and song writing. They became quite popular soon after their first release.
Dadas characteristic deep voice set up themes and stories through his lyrics, with dark and mysterious characters which came to life through their songs. In 2000 Kalm decided to leave Velvet Eden. This marked the start of a number of line-up changes (referred to as Generations I, II, and III for each line-up change) and a progressive departure in their sound. Eventually, Dada was the only original member left in the band, and their sound changed to from a synthetic dark sound to a more rockier (but still synthetic) sound.
Velvet Eden lasted until late 2002. Their break-up is a sad story. During one of their live performances, Dada decided not to show up. The remaining members took turns singing. Soon after, Velvet Eden (after a few lackluster performances) decided to disband. However Velvet Edens abrupt and disgruntling end doesnt overshadow their body of work. they left something quite unique and quite possibly unparalleled in Visual Kei.
They are credited as being one of the first Visual Kei bands to introduce electronics (and still stay within the genres musical style). Velvet Eden has influenced some newer Visual Kei artists, such as Kozi and Schwarz Stein. It is also said (and is my personal opinion) that Velvet Eden summed up the spirit of the Visual Kei scene from 99 to 01.

Thoughts
Velvet Eden is an interesting band. They have some really nice background instrumental parts. What really sets the tone of the music though is Dadas voice. His voice is very haunting, deep, and mysterious. Overall, they were fairly good!
