Ueto Aya

  Vocals: Ueto Aya

  Started: 1997
  Status: Active

Profile

Aya’s trip to stardom started in 1997 when she was a participant in the 7th All-Japan National Young Beauty contest. Though she didn’t win, she received a special judge’s award, which led to commercials, which led to her acting career. She has starred in doramas like Koukou Kyoushi and Ace wo Nerae (she recorded the ending song for the show, titled "Ai no Tameni") and has been the main character in blockbuster movies Azumi 1 and 2 and Install among many others.

She was once a part of a j-pop group known as Z-1, but they broke up after five releases. Since then Aya has been a solo artist. Her first single was "Pureness" in 2002.

She’s still going strong today, acting and singing.

Thoughts

I must admit that I’m on the fence with this singer. She has some awesome background accompianment that really makes her music good. My only objection is that her voice is just average. She doesn’t have much of a range, and that really limits her ability to be great.
