Originally coming together to form the accessories brand of the same name, "total-art-unit" Suppurate System formed in 1996 in Tokyo, consisting of Micael and Ryonai (ex Blam Honey). They began making music in 1999, stating that they wanted to create art by using not only design, but music and performance as well.

They released two cassette singles in 1999/2000, "Affekt Pendule" and "Heather Disperse". Both singles came in two versions, "Affekt Pendule" in black or white and "Heather Disperse" with A Type and B Type.

Since then, Suppurate System have chosen to focus on their accessories, creating pieces for artists such as Mana, Kozi, Kaoru and Kaya.

Thoughts

Suppurate System are a really interesting band. The combination of ambient electronic music and operatic vocals creates a surreal and calming atmosphere and gives them a unique sound. It’s a shame they’ve only released two singles.
