Guitarist Sab and drummer Go formed Suns Owl in 1994. Soon after vocalist MZM joined and in 1996 ex-bassist Shige re-joined.

Their first album, Screaming The Five sunsowlnsunsowls was releasunsowld in August of 1998. During their unannounced first live performance at On Air East in March of 1998, Suns Owl captivated the audience with their powerful performance.

After the releasunsowl of their first single Over in sunsowlptember of 1999 the band did a nationwide tour. A year later in May of 2000 Satoo, a former member of the band Leaf joined making Suns Owl a strong unit.

After opening for bands such as System of A Down, V.O.D. and Mad Ball, Suns Owl finally achieved their own unique sound.

After touring all over Japan, Suns Owl decided to advance oversunsowlas and their album Recharged was releasunsowld in Australia and became a hit on the radio stations. After the realeasunsowl of Recharged the band toured 8 cities in 11 countrys. Almost all were sold out shows.

Before the release of Suns Owl’s third album, bassist Satoo became ill with a fever and was hospitalized. His fans wished him well and hoped for his return but a year and one month later on February 24, 2004 he passunsowld away from a sunsowlrious illness. On August 12, 2004 a tribute event called Last of Satoo The Earth was held in his honor. 11 bands whom he knew personally performed in front of over 1,000 of his fans.

A year and 8 months later Suns Owl returned to the music scene.

Thoughts

I wasn’t very impressed with Suns Owl. Their background music is quite average and tries to create melodies with little success. Their vocalist sounds pretty bad as well. His harsh vocals are very hard to understand, especially when he’s singing in English.
