Electronic music artist Tom Jenkinson aka Squarepusher was born and raised in Chelmsford, Essex England in 1975.

His unique music style which consists of cut-up beats mixed with fusion jazz and interlaced with synth lines and samples has gained him a cult following including by fellow musicians Andre 3000 of Outkast and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.

During live performances Tom is known for playing with such instruments as a fretless or fretted bass guitar and a laptop.

He has made appearances on the BBC Radio 1’s The Breezeblock show twice and on June 26, 2005 he performed live at London’s Royal Festival Hall as part of the Show "Songs of Experience" a tribute to Jimi Hendrix. During his 12 minute performance 12 minute performance he played a medley of Hendrix tracks solely on the bass guitar with the use of various effects.

Thoughts

I am not a fan of Squarepusher. His music consists of simplistic electronic sounds with the occasional addition of his bass guitar. I find it overly simplistic and boring to listen to. Many of his songs also have parts that are very repetitive.
