Silver Ash formed in 1999 in Beijing. They are China’s first Visual Kei band, are unprecidented from a musical standpoint (in China) and have appeared on the cover of nearly every music publication in China, and also on Japan’s "Asahi Shimbun" and even recieved mention in the Oricon.Despite their widespread success in China, they have had difficulties. The original lineup which included Ling (vocals), Lucy (guitar), Hong (bass), and Zhen (drums) has been reduced to only Ling, as the other band members have left to pursue their own careers.
They have toured around China, and were even scheduled to play on America’s west coast, however their concert was cancelled due to the SARS outbreak. Some of their influences include X-Japan, Luna Sea, and Dir en Grey. Despite their current problems, Silver Ash is definitely a band to keep an eye on!

Thoughts
Overall, I was very impressed with Silver Ash! Ling’s vocals are spectacular and far exceed many other visual kei singers. The music is also quite unique as well. It often has a dark, almost Halloweenish sound to it. Definitely worth a listen!
