Consisting of Selia and Sisen (also known as DJ Violet or 666Fox when DJing), Seirenes are an electronic band from Tokyo.

Having no releases so far, Seirenes are a very performance oriented band, with support member dancers (including Clown and Micchi) elaborate costumes. They have played at many of the events that are well-known within the electronic and club scenes in Tokyo. These include Tokyo Decadence, Tokyo Dark Castle, Alamode Night and Takuya Angel Night. They also colaborated on a song with Kalm (ex-Velvet Eden) that they performed at Tokyo Decadence.

The band continue to perform live and both Selia and Sisen have other projects; Selia working as an opera vocalist and Sisen DJing at various clubs, including some in Europe.

Thoughts

Seirenes are a highly visual electro band and their music is a combination of synths, techno beats and operatics and, together with the lyrics, this creates quite a strange and eerie atmosphere. It’s a shame Seirenes haven’t released anything yet, as they seem like a really good band and it would be nice to hear their music without all the distortion on live clips. However, they do seem like a great live band and so I think if you ever got the chance, this band would definitely be worth seeing live.
