Profile

Scoobie Do first started out when childhood friends Matsuki Taijirou and Koyama Shuu decided to make a band together. Attempting to focus on a throwback style towards the R&B/funk movement of the 60’s, the name of the band was taken from the name of a song by the 60’s funk artist Calvin Arnold. In 1996, the current drummer Okamoto "MOBY" Takuya joined the band to fill out their current lineup. In 1999, the band released their first album with the indie label K.O.G.A Records. As time progressed and their popularity grew, in 2002, the band made it to their first major label, Speedstar Records. Since then, the band has had great success and, in 2006, released a best-of CD.

Thoughts

Scoobie Do isn’t my cup of tea. They sound like they are from a much older generation, when you hear their strange mix of jazz and psychedelic melodies. You will need to be a fan of 1960-1970’s music to appreciate what they have done.
