Profile

Schwarz Stein started as a support group for Mana’s popular band, Moi Dix Mois. They were known as Rudolf Steiner back then, but changed their name to Schwarz Stein after they signed on with Mana’s record label, Midi:Nette.

After signing onto Midi:Nette, Schwarz Stein became popular and started appearing in magizines such as Shoxx, and Fools Mate. In 2002, they released their first single "Perfect Garden" followed by their debut album, "New Vogue Children".

Schwarz Stein did a few performances in the underground scene of Japan, before they released their second full length album, Artificial Hallucination.

On February 1st, 2004, Schwarz Stein stated that their last live (scheduled for March 24th) would be their final, and that the band would immediately disband afterwords, due to musical differences.

Thoughts

I am on the fence about Schwarz Stein. I like their music a lot. It is a great mix of upbeat pop and eletronic music. The one thing that throws me off with this band are the vocals. In some songs like Perfect Garden and Fester Love, the vocals sound fine in. In other songs like Syphillis and Disorder though, the vocals aren’t very good.
