Profile
Sakamoto Maaya first got the attention of many when, at the age of 15, she became the youngest person to ever become a seiyuu, or voice actor. This was a great start for someone so young, but what really piqued everyones interest was her talent at singing. Along with her role as Kanzaki Hitomi in the anime
Vision Of Escaflowne, Maaya also sang the opening song,
Yakusoku wa Iranai, and did very well at it.
Since then, Maaya has pursued both her seiyuu and singer careers, often intermingling the two by singing songs for whatever anime she is acting in, like she did with Escaflowne. However, Maaya has become known more for her singing than she has for her voice-acting.
Besides being known for having a light and clear voice, she is also well-known for working with renowned composer Kanno Yoko on many of her albums and singles. It is only her most recent album,
Yuunagi Loop, that does not feature any songs composed by Kanno.
As of now, Sakamoto Maaya has released 8 albums, 15 singles, and numerous other compilation albums, and has been featured on many anime and game soundtracks and drama CDs.

Thoughts
Sakamoto Maaya is an old favorite artist of mine. I absolutely love her works. She has a beautiful voice that is calming to listen to. Her music is also quite extroidinary! The composition of each piece is complex, and features a lot of accoustic instruments like pianos and guitars. I tried to pick some excellent samples for you to listen to. I highly recommend her!
