Profile
Rin is composed of three members Mana, Tomoca, and Chie. They collaborate traditional Japanese musical instruments (Koto, Jushichi-gen, Biwa, Sangen, and Shakuhachi) with modern, pop-like musical elements. The band made their performing debut in December 2003, at Meguro Gajoen, and in April 2004, their first single, called "Sakitama," was released by avex trax.
Their latest album, Inland Sea, was their first worldwide cd. Inland Sea brought the group worldwide attention and introduced them to an international audience. Many songs in Inland Sea featured various artists such as Leigh Nash, Lisa Loeb, and Jimmy Harry.

Thoughts
Rin is off to a great start. The use of traditional Japanese instruments in their songs adds a nice touch of Japanese culture. They do need to be more cautious with their vocals though. Sometimes they will over emphasize their lyrics and when this is combined with the traditional instruments, it can come off very much as a Enka song.
