Rie Fu has been greatly influenced by music. From age 7 to 20, she lived in Maryland and fell in love with singers like Sheryl Crow, Michelle Branch, and The Carpenters. She moved back to Japan, and began to write her own songs in high school. She caught Sony’s attention rather quickly and made her major debut in March 2004 with the single 4Rie who?! ".Currently, Rie is a student at the University of the Arts in London. She travels between the UK and Japan to record her songs. Her experience with English has also carried over into the lyrics of her songs. Many of her songs mix both English and Japanese. A few like "Voice" are also entirely in English. Rie fu is expecting to release a new album late March 2006!

Thoughts
Rie Fu is a great singer that could be grouped with other singers like Kiroro and Garnet Crow. She has a very deep voice with a calming sound to it. In addition, many of her songs are slow ballads or slow pop songs. She likes to incorporate a lot of English into her songs too and she does an incredible job singing them.
