My Review of the CD

This is Anna's first major debut album. Unlike "Taste My Beat", many of the songs on this album have recieved lots of publicity for being featured in TV shows and movies. "Rose", for example, is the hit introduction song to the anime Nana. "Lovin' You" was also the theme song for the Japanese horror movie Silent Hill. In addition to this great line up, favorite songs from the singles "Change Your Life" and "Slap That Naughty Body" are also featured!

When the album first debuted it ranked in Oricon’s top ten! Most of the songs on this album are in English, and quite good English at that ;)

Track Listing

1. Zero - 9/10
"Zero" is a great introduction to the album. It has a great chorus and very catchy lyrics. The very end of the song where Anna says "Thank you" also gives the illusion that you are listening to a live performance.

2. Rose - 10/10
This is a brilliant song. It has an enchanting driving tempo that locks your attention. Anna's voice really stands out as well. When she sings "I am a broken rose, I need your love" you can really hear the emotion behind the lyrics. Overall, a brilliant song!

3. My Way - 9/10
Another great song! It has a great melody and chorus, but the best part of the song is the lyrics. The lyrics are all in English and really speak well to anyone who has been lonely or parted ways with a friend before.

4. Lovin' You - 9/10
Although this song was a side track to the single "Rose", it has won its rightful spot on this album. The songs discusses the desperation of a girl who'll do anything for love. Anna first sings "How can I be beautiful? If I have sweet voice like you, do you think he will love me?". She then flips the scenario to speak for what the guy is thinking: "Do you love her for just a while? If you want her to change, she can change for you right now". The lyrics are a wonderful play on how two people can think about a situation and what desperation can lead one to do.

5. Under My Mask - 7/10
This is not my favorite song by Anna. There is nothing special about the music, nor the lyrics. Its just an average song.

6. True Colors - 7/10
This is a remake of the song "True Colors". Anna has tried to make it more rockish by speeding up the tempo of the song. I don't think she did any justice to the song by changing it though.

7. Give Me a Kiss and Kiss - 8/10
This is a very cute pop song about love. Throughout the song very few instruments are used, giving the song a very gentle feel.

8. Forever - 9/10
What an awesome ballad! Anna's voice is very smooth, sultry, and absolutely beautiful with the piano. She really portrays the emotions of this song best when she sings, "I love you forever, I can't live without you anymore...please come back".

9. Interlude
A short 50 second interlude that changes the direction of the album back to rock.

10. Change Your Life - 10/10
Okay, the transition between the Interlude and Change Your Life is amazing! Major props need to go to Anna's crew for that. As for the song, what can I say? This song rocks! The back beats by the bass and drums give the song a great heavy rock feel. It's really the driving force behind this song. Overall, a great rock song :D

11. Ecstasy - 9/10
Another amazing song. The composition of this song is brilliant because it intertwines with the lyrics very well. After each line before and during the chorus, Anna will sing and then the bass and guitar respond with the same melody. It sounds amazing, funky, and sexy.

12. Jane - 8/10
Jane slows down the pace of the album again. The song is a little popish and features an accoustic guitar playing lead. Like some of the previous songs on the album, this one talks about being your self and not rushing into things. I like how the lyrics are arranged so that when Anna sings, it sounds like she is giving advice to "Jane". Very clever!

13. Grooving Beating - 8/10
The pace of the album picks up with this song. Grooving Beating is a very cute love song with kawaii lyrics like "Why, why shining feeling? My heart is going beating, I feel so alive!".

14. Knock Down - 9/10
A great rock song. I love how they cranked up the bass so it can lead the song.

15. Slap That Naughty Body - 10/10
Okay, there's nothing clever about these lyrics at all. They are quite simple and consist of lines like "Rock the body body, move your ass over, Slap that naughty body, move your ass over here now". So why does such a song get a 10? Its simply addicting to listen to. There is something about the very simplistic lyrics, bass drivin beat, and Anna's incredible vocals that make this song absolutely irresistible to listen to. I wouldn't cranked up this song too loud though around your parents ;)
