My Review

Why is BoA so succesful despite her rather primped and manufactured image? Because she can acutally sing! which is happily demonstrated in this little package, ’Live Tour 2004 LOVE & HONESTY DVD.’

To cut to the chase, BoA’s vocals are simply amazing, redirecting ’amazing’ from her live performance, not simply from her recordings. BoA isn’t your typical ’hit and miss.’ She’s more of a hit, really. All her songs were performed beautifully, nearly flawless. Her performance in this live tour is without a doubt impressive. Her singing is also combined with light dancing so she doesn’t tire, and the more rigorous dancing is delivered when singing is, more or less, absent. Everything is fairly balanced out.

Being fairly critical, I don’t think BoA is a very impresseive dancer. She seems just average, however! her vocals are highly above her dancing, which balances everything out rather nicely, which equals BoA. She’s not a horrible dancer, but I felt that her backup dancers overruled her, which is rather typical in every performance, so I did not mind much at all. Her band, back-up vocals and dancers were all very impressive, bringing a well rounded show.

I wasn’t too impressed with the overall set, however. It’s a large flying saucer, complete with numerous lights and different stages and rooms that shift and change throughout the performance. I didn’t find it anything spectacular. The only thing that really bothered me throughout this entire DVD was BoA’s costumes/costume changes. I don’t think I enjoyed even one of her outfits. I know it’s a performance and all, but couldn’t you have worn something that flattered you? or even remotely looked nice?!(and she needs a new hairstyle) but that’s besides the point.

IN CONCLUSION: If you’re a BoA fan, you basically wouldn’t be disapointed with this DVD at all, is where I’m getting at(despite my fashion rant). BoA’s performance is brilliant, her CD is brilliant, and I couldn’t see any BoA fan being dissatisfied. Hey, I bought it, afterall!
