Review

L.O.V.E. is a great album by ketchup mania that was recently released by JapanFiles.com online for English fans to purchase. As with many of ketchup mania’s releases, this album is full of great, upbeat punk songs that are sure to entertain both rock and pop fans.

The album starts off with the track titled "Bastards". This track lasts for two minutes and opens up the album for track two, "Sunshine Girl". "Sunshine Girl" is a very nice song that features all English lyrics. Hiro’s English is a bit weak, but you can still understand the lyrics. One of the cool features of this song is the electronic effects used to distort Hiro’s vocals at times. It adds a new dimension to the song and keeps your attention throughout the repetitive drumming in the background.

As the album progresses, ketchup mania shows fans that they can play other genres besides punk. "Maronska" and "Life Size", which are pop songs, are great examples of this. I was especially fond of these songs as they show the band’s softer side. I must also admit that Hiro’s vocals take on a very gentle sound that you would not expect from her. It was a very pleasant surprise!

Near the end of the album, the band returns to their punk roots showing off their impressive ability to create fast, energetic, and lively songs. "My Manual" will have you tapping your foot in sync with the rhythm, and you just might be into full dance mode when you get to "melt". On the other hand, songs like "Hime no omoi" will have you singing along with their addictive melodies.

The album comes to an end with the last track, "Lucky Star". This song is by far their most generic pop song on the album, but has a very cute melody that is backed up nicely by the guitar. As much as I enjoyed the other songs on this album, "Lucky Star" is by far my favorite as it really gets to highlight guitar and shows a tender side to Hiro.

Overall, I think fans will be very pleased with this album. I thoroughly enjoyed it because it showed another side of ketchup mania that isn’t often shown in their singles.
