Review

"Kuroi Namida" is Anna Tsuchiya’s first single since the release of her album "Strip Me". The song itself, has been featured on the ever popular series Nana as an outro theme. It is also set to be featured in a Nissan tv commercial in March 2007. In addition to Kuroi Namida, the single includes a cover of "Just Can’t Get Enough", one original b-side track, and a remix of Kuroi Namida.

Track Listing

1. Kuroi Namida
All in all, I was actually surprised that Anna would even do a song like this. Kuroi Namida is a very slow, repetitive ballad. I actually find it quite bland for Anna. Despite the song’s average nature, Anna does a good job trying to portray emotion in the chorus. I just wish they wouldn’t repeat the chorus so many times. In many ways the repetitiveness really kills the song.
Rating: [6/10]

2. Just Can’t Get Enough
This song is actually a cover of the original song "Just Can’t Get Enough". Very few instruments are used in this song, making the emphasis Anna’s voice. Overall, it is a very cute song and Anna’s English has definitely improved. You will definitely find yourself singing along.
Rating: [8/10]

3. I’m Addicted to You
Now this is a song that really is suited for Anna. It starts out building up the guitar and drums until it reaches its climax. The rockish melody is driven by strong drumming beats that continue until the end of the song. Throughout the song, Anna really lets loose. Her vocals and expressions compliment the song very well. If this single was not connected to the Nana anime, then this song would have been the first track. It really is spectacular and quite similar to the songs featured on her last album.
Rating: [10/10]

4. Kuroi Namida -Deep Sadness Version-
There really isn’t much of a difference between this remix and the original version. Accoustic instruments like the violin and piano are played in the background. The build up to the chorus is also much more intense than in the original. The slight difference do make the song better, but there is still the problem of repetitiveness.
Rating: [8/10]
