Review

I accidentally stumbled upon this single not too long ago, I was downloading a group of Game OSTs/singles and this happened to be one that was included. I had never heard of Mika Nakashima until then and I am very lucky to have found such a gem. Mika Nakashima's voice is what truly sets her apart from most other J-pop singers, it is smooth and melodious and seems best when soft and lulling. This single truly accentuates that, with the use of piano and strings that help to complement the beauty of her voice. This cd is nothing but Hitori, every track is a different version of the song, each surprisingly as good as the one before it.

Track Listing

1. Hitori (Single version) [5:55] - 9/10
This version of the song has much more to it than the rest. More instruments give it more power and energy that really make this version.

2. Hitori (Album version) [5:52] - 10/10
The album version seems like the way the song was supposed to be heard. It is much softer and uses small amounts of piano and strings to evoke more emotion and feeling. Everything fits well, the almost hauntingly delicate vocals, the soft yet deep piano and the strings which enliven the song.

3. Hitori (Endroll version) [5:01] - 9/10
An instrumental version ,which makes up for the lack of vocals by adding more depth to the instrumentation.

4. Hitori (Instrumental) [5:53] - 8/10
Like most instrumental versions there is something lacking without the vocals.
