Overview

This CD celebrates Buck-Tick's 15 years as a completely active band. It's very great! Older Buck-Tick fans will appreciate the lyrics, but sadly may miss their less synthetic sound. Newer fans will find this album very catchy, and a very good intro to Buck-Tick's music. I highly reccommend buying this album!

Review

This time around I'm reviewing Buck-Tick's album Gokuto I Love You. They did this album for their 15th anniversary. The concert tickets were sold out within 20 minutes. Does that tell you something?

Well, I'd like to start by saying that this album is very good. The songs transition smoothly, and the beats are very catchy. It has a little bit of everything: nice uplifting songs, one or two faster paced adrenaline inducing songs, sad songs, and some funky songs. One problem with the album is that it's very short. (Roughly 43:11) Below is my opinion of the songs themselves.

Track Listing

1. Shippu no Blade Runner - 9/10
A very synthetic light rock song. It's lyrical premesis is pleasant, and it's quite catchy. The main thing that sticks out for me is the guitar work near the end of the song.

2. 21st Cherry Boy - 10/10
This song is very poppy, and catchy. I often find myself singing along with it, or snapping my fingers. It's just one of those songs that are great in a very accessible manner. The background chorus inbetween verses is very cutesy and fits the song very well.

3. Warp Day - 10/10
This is probably the second most synthetically based song on the album. It's also my favorite song on the album. The lyrics are very light, and beautiful sounding. The music itself is the perfect culmination between rock, and synth in my personal opinion. Also, the light distortion on the voice adds just a little something to the song that makes it awesome!

4. Shanikusai -Carnival- - 10/10
This song is darker, and slower. It really shows Buck-Tick's command of variety, and this song is really great to listen to while walking at night or when alone. The lyrics are the main thing that jump out at me in this song, they almost seem to contrast with the music due to their very high (in some places) pitch and the main chorus is just absolutely amazing.

5. Trigger - 8/10
The first thing you get to hear in this song is a very simple (albeit enjoyable) drum. From there the song then branches into a very rocky and catchy piece. Throughout the song, the drums really stick out. My one problem with the song is that the vocals could have done without the synthesization.

6. Long Distance Call - 9/10
This is a very dark and beautiful song, with slow clear vocals. I think it befits the title of the song very well, and successfully conveys a feeling of loneliness.

7. Kyokutou Yori Ai wo Komete - 5/10
I really do not like this song very much. The song is very repetetive, and the vocals don't particularly stand out much either.

8. Ghost - 7/10
This song is light rock, which is also synthesized (seemingly the theme of the album). Overall I'd say it's a decent song, though nothing really jumps out at me when I hear it.

9. Brilliant - 9/10
This song has a very sad sound to it. Listening to it makes me tingle! The vocals are very light, and higher pitched. It's a song that is very listenable to, you know.. one of those songs you could listen to again, and again.

10. Kingdom Come -Moon Rise- - 9/10
This is a catchy light rock song, with a choiresque vocal premesis during the chorus. The backdrops, and synthetic accompaniments in this song are very fitting and are very good. In the beginning however, this track is easily overlookable as a mediocre song. However, if you listen past the beginning it's very great.

11. Continue - 9/10
Probably the most synthetic and industrial sounding track on the album. With no lyrics, the synth really sticks out. This song reminds me of a factory for some reason. Music like this track seem to be an acquired taste.
