Review
There are, no doubt, albums that are flawless. Asian Kung Fu Generations Kimi Tsunagi Five M, is one of those albums.
There are 12 tracks on this album with 2 of them being previous singles. This was Ajikans first full album released in 2003. The cover art of this album is stunning along with the gripping inner art as well.
Tsunagi was released at a time when it was most needed. In the early 2000s, music popular contemporary music all around the world was dying. Now, the mainstream is infested with rap and sans intellect music, while the real bands have hidden themselves under indie labels. It is easy to say that music has downgraded. But with Tsunagis release, musics true light has rekindled. This album gives hope to all music intellectuals.
Track Listing
1) The first track,
Flashback is a short, very fast paced, song that is a good opening. Whenever you just need to jam and have a good rock song basting in your ears, Flashback is there. A smooth transition that makes it almost one song.
[10/10]
2)
Mirai no kakera is the next track. This song is, a sort of acquired taste. It is not as gripping in the first listen as Flashback, but one can really grow to love it.
[9.8/10]
3)
Denpatou, the next track, is a a genuine rock song with a flash of a certain reggae type beat. The first back vocals are faint, but really add to the song itself. The next transition, flows into Understand.
[10/10]
4)
Understand is a song that plays on the vocals and the steadiness of the guitar. This song makes for a great Live play and the back vocals are starting to shine. The audience can sing along well and makes you never want to skip it in a random play.
[10/10]
5) This next song,
Natsu no hi, zanzou starts out a bit slow, but one half way through the song, the pace picks up and makes for a great jamming song.
[9.8/10]
6) The transition just as good as the first, making it one cohesive song,
Mugen Glider is pure glory. It gives a feeling of soft sadness and a relatively calm feeling. Then the vocals add to the softness. Its not the normal powerful screams, but something calmer. Within a minute, the guitar heightens, and the vocals get louder as well. The music, still being calm, are also empowering. Then the guitar takes control with a solo that instills feelings of courage. This song is perfection.
[10/10]
7) At an end to this song, begins
sono wake o. This resumes a general rock feeling also with the reggae. Its foil must be denpatou. The vocals are also hopeful and the harmony is beautiful. It embodies music is its greatest form.
[10/10]
8)
N.G.S. (Number girl syndrome) begins with a genuine old Japanese feeling. It quite actually reminds me of an old woman strumming her instrument. Well, with the old rhythm being played on contemporary instruments, this song gives for an interesting, new type of sound. It is also another pure rock song. This song also is a good live performance.
[10/10]
9)
Jihei Tansaku begins with a choppy sound and follows with it for the song. The frequent screams in the song make it a good song with a Jet feel.
[8/10]
10)
E is a song that was one of their earlier works. It was released on their indie works. It has that indie, confused feel. But indeed, it deserves its place on Tsunagi. It is a great song.
[9.5/10]
11) Next up is
Kimi to Iu Hana, a single released prior. It has a wonderfully interesting video and won the Best Video Award. The song itself though, is wonderful and can easily match the video. The back vocals shine through and the faint almost invisible reggae is there. The main vocals are also tamed and beautiful. The jibberish sung at the end of the song is a necessary beauty.
[10/10]
12) Approaching the end, there is one more track,
No Name. This song also has a choppy beginning, but the beauty of it is its calm. It gives a good feeling of ending and leaves it as if there should be more, but we are still content that there is not. It makes a sad ending, but turn up the volume because you are going to listen to Flashback again.
[9/10]
