Review
Now, you all may be thinking that my rating is, shall I say, rather harsh. I know, it is a single CD, and of course you dont really expect much from it to begin with, being that Be the one is a very impressive single from Boa, either way. However! When you purchase a single CD, it means that you are very impressed by everything that the very song delivers. Also, you want to be a part of everything else that single is a product of, or youre just a big fan of anything the artist produces. For example: remixes.
After listening to the single, you are eagerly waiting for the next track. Ok, now lets get this straight. Be the one is a very upbeat and commanding song, which should equal a killer remix, right? A+B=C. Wrong! I was expecting atleast two remixes, however, there is only one. So now you think, Alright, then this must be one killer remix then, right? Wrong again! Right from the beginning of the remix, you can already tell that its, well...putting it bluntly...really going to suck. This is, basically, the only thing you would assume correctly with this whole package.
The beginning of the remix, brought to you by K-Muto Grooverz(who has completely no groove what so ever), is hardly compelling. The backround music hardly goes, if at all, with BoAs vocals, or I dare say, with the melody at all. In short, the remix is far too slow. Its just drags...like road kill that got caught under your car. BoAs vocal range doesnt fit the pace at all. Two words: Sloppy and Messy.
The elements presented by the remix are utilized terribly. Horribly in fact. It seems like he looked at a panel of musical elements and effects, and inserted them like sticking macaroni on glue. The result? ugly macaroni art that you give your parents for, oh I dont know...Valentines, when youre in the second grade, maybe third? By the time the instrumental came on, I was near the brink of death, it was my shining light in all the darkness that had previously consumed me by the sad excuse of a remix. Its as if the guy procrastinated and left it till the night before. Either that or he should persue another profession.
When I think single CD, I think, Ayumi Hamasaki with her mind boggling remixes, which sometimes add up to five or six, sometimes even seven, more even! And if not, atleast a live track from a previous single, or even a brand new track all in itself, for example: Janne Da Arcs Gekkouka Single CD, with the track, WING. So basically, I wasted 800 yen, buying this little number. Unless youre a hardcore BoA fan, and you must have everything that is BoA, in order to create a shrine of her Godly self in your bedroom, I highly suggest that you do not pick this one up. Why? because its no good. When something isnt good, it really isnt worth it. Once again, and dont get me wrong, I love this single, hence why I bought the track, however! the dissapointment I felt after listening to the whole CD (or just the remix) was enough to make me regret buying this over lunch.
