Profile

Paris Match is a blend of jazz, soul, and bossa and can commonly be heard in cafe-type areas. Debuting in 2000, this trio consists of Tai Furusawa, Mari Mizuno, and the founder Yosuke Sugiyama.

Like many bands, they all have already been around music by the time "Volume One" (their debut album) was released. Sugiyama has been playing pro since age 19 where his band experienced mediocre success. Unfortunately, Sugiyama’s band broke up and he traveled abroad to widen his music experience.

Furisawa, on the other hand, had been dee-jaying at large events and working with other big artists when he met Sugiyama. The two were going to team up and be a duo when Mizuno was able to get Sugiyama some of his music and both were greatly impressed and asked Mizuno to join them, forming the Paris Match known today.

Since then, thanks to constant releases and good timing, they were able to win many awards and the hearts of fans.

My Thoughts

Paris Match’s music is a mix of jazz and elevator music. In many ways the two compliment each other, adding an electronic sound to jazzy melodies. Mari’s vocals are very deep, and soothing to listen to.
