Starting out with Koki Ito answering the call for creating a band with Moyo Satake when the two were in Kinki University, NIRGILIS has gone through many transformations over the years. After a multitude of lineups and putting the band on hiatus, it wasn’t until 2001 that the band started to really take form and, in the following year, the band debuted on the Oricon indie charts. However, after a multitude of releases, in late 2004, Satake decided to leave the band on the basis of musical differences. A year later, the band was signed onto the major label DefSTAR. After this, the band has placed a more poppier sound in ther music and, subsequently, has had a number of recent releases used in various anime and TV show soundtracks.Kamikazen
Thoughts
NIRGILIS has a very unique sound. Their music is a cool combination of instruments, vocals (sometimes operatic-like), and electronic sounds. Its an interesting mixture of sounds and its really pulled off with Iwata’s vocals. Definitely check them out!Click to read/add your opinion!
