Nightwish first formed in 1996 with three members. In 1997, more members were added and Nightwish got a contract with Spinefarm records. Nightwish debuted with the single The Carpenter and ranked eighth in Finland. Later that year, the band also released their first album called Angels Fall First. At first, Nightwish had a rocky time gaining popularity. In 2000, Nightwish released their album Wishmaster and ranked #1 on the charts! In addition, that album reached a gold disc mark. Nightwish became a hit across Europe and they began touring around the world. Since then, each album they have released has become a gold or platinum disc! They are now touring around the world and holding 150 concerts!Thoughts
If you like bands like Evanescence, then you'll definitely like Nightwish. As with Within Temptation, their vocalist is like a opera singer doing rock. Its amazing and sounds spectacular. Another cool thing is that they sing in English too. Nightwish's lyrics tend to be a little darker and more hard core than Evanescence. Without a doubt though, they are a great band worth trying out :)akfgfan
