Morning Musume is a lead group of the Hello! Project Beginning started in 1997 which is still the top all girls�f groups with hit albums in Japan. Heike Michiyo was the winner and together with the five runner-ups, they formed a group and with the challenge to sell 50,000 records within five days before receiving a recording deal. Eventually, Ai no Tane, their first record, was successful which saw them winning the challenge.

Members came and went as there were more auditions and series of additions as well as graduation. Those who remained in Hello! Project worked as solo artist while the others who did not, retired from the industry.

Morning Musume hosted a variety show called Hello! Morning in April 2000 and increased the group�fs popularity. January saw the graduation of their long time leader, Lida Kaori and Ishikawa Rika, the fan�fs favourite, in May 2005. Their then-leader, Yaguchi Mari resigned on April 14, the same year. Konno Asami and Ogawa Makoto graduated on July 23 and August 27, 2006. Morning Musume is now under the lead of Yoshizawa Hitomi.

Thoughts

I’m not really a fan of Morning Musume. The band has become one of these ‘protege’ deals where girls are given a chance to debut. Their vocals tend to be average, but you definitely can’t deny that they are kawaii. I will give them that. They are very kawaii :)
