Profile

Mizraab first started their career in the late 1990’s. Their name comes from the Persian word "mizraab", which is a piece of metal you wear on your finger while playing the sitar. At first, the band started with only three members. Their band member, Akhtar released their first album titled Panchi in 1999 to the surprise of the other members. Shortly afterwards, Akhtar left the band and the band took a break. Faraz did some solo work for a time. In 2000, the band was resurrected with some new additional members. The band worked on some new music, but no record company would let them produce it since it would be the first metal album in Pakistan. The band did not give up, and recorded a video for the Cricket World Cup 2003. They are now planning on releasing their album sometime this year.

Thoughts

Mizraab is a good international rock band. Their vocalist, Faraz Anwar, has a deep voice that sounds wonderful with the bass and guitar. A lot of credit also needs to go to the guitar and bass guitar players as well. They have some amazing solos between the choruses in their songs. Below is a sample of their song Insan.
