A writer and composer of all her own music, Mai was born April 18, 1981 in Matsue. Known for her crouched stance when playing piano, she’s been exposed to music since she was four was influenced by both her father and mother. Her mother wanted her to become a classic pianist while her father showed her the latest songs.In high school, her dream was to become a song writer. But it wasn’t until college when she heard of a Sony audition. She passed the screening but could not make it to a vital part so was looked over. When a similar opportunity turned up again, she passed it all and debuted in 2002. Besides her crouch, she is also known for her hairstyle.

I love Mai Hoshimura! She has a beautiful, rich voice that sounds wonderful no matter what genre she tries. I really enjoy her songs because they infuse a variety of pop, rock, and jazz. I highly recommend her!Click to read/add your opinion!
