Born in South Korea on July 28, 1979, Lee Min Woo started out his musical career after being discovered by a SM Entertainment scout during a dance competition where he performed with his group Dicky Ducky while attending the JunJoo Fine Arts School. This soon lead to him becoming a member of the popular boy band, Shinhwa.In 2003 Lee took a break from Shinhwa and began a solo career under the name of M. Surpassing expectations bestowed upon him by his record label and a sophisticated style, Lee’s first album, Un-Touch-Able sold over 100,000 copies. After heavy promotion and hard work to become a successful soloist, Lee soon joined forces again awith Shinwa in 2004 to help prepare for the bands 7th album, Brand New which was released in August of that same year. But after the release Shinwa went on hiatus. This ment Lee returning back to his solo career in which his single, If You... was released in March of 2005. Again heavy promotion of the single took place but it only sold 30,000 copies. When fellow Shinwa bandmate Shin Hye Sung begain a solo career also, Lee toned down and took a break in order to avoid competing with his bandmate.
With a new sexier image, the Fall saw Lee making a comeback with the September release of his second album, IInd Winds which sold 80,000 copies. The success of the album promoted the release of a second version that included bonus tracks and a VCD. Following closely behind was the Girl Friend edition. With yet another new image, this time portraying a more sensitive role, his second single about lost love also titled Girl Friend was released. A rare little over 4 month promotion by Korean music standards took place helping the album sell over 120,000 copies.
The new year of 2006 brought forth new and unexplored areas, in particular Lee’s first solo live, M’s Girlfriend held at the Seoul Olympic Gymnasium. A DVD was released the following Summer.
Another unexplored area was conquered when Lee decided to focus on a career as an actor and starred in the film, Wontak’s Angel. While working on the film he joined Shinwa once again as the band released there 8th album that same Summer. An overseas album promotion as well as lives performed all over Asia went on into the Fall months.
In November Lee started up his solo career again performing lives in Shanghai, China along with a promotional live at Seoul Melon AX and a guest appearance on musical newcomer, Sat’s first single.
After viewing various video clips of Korean pop singers, American pop singer Christina Aguilera chose Lee to perform with her at her June 24th Seoul Concert.
Explore, Lees third album released in July of 2007 had a more R&B style to it unlike his previous albums. With his goal set on releasing it in the United States the album was instead released in Korea. It sold over 30,000 copies in a miraculous three days! 25,000 of those were pre-orders.
Currently Lee runs his own managment group titled M RISING Entertainment and is working on the promotion of the single, Stomp.

Lee Min Woo has had an extremely succesful career in the entertainment industry. He has a very nice voice, and sings a variety of pop ballads and rnb songs. He does have a very fake, commercialized appearance, but you can’t dispute his talents as a vocalist and businessman.Click to read/add your opinion!
