Laputa was a Japanese visual kei band form in July, 1993 by the vocalist Aki and drummer Tomoi, both previously in the band AI SICK FACE together. The band’s original lineup was Aki on vocals, Hiro on guitar, Kusuba on bass, and Tomoi on drums. They released their first demotape "Saddist no yume" in September, while in november of the same year, Hideno, previously in AI SICK FACE, joined Laputa as an additional guitarist. Soon after this, Laputa released their second demotape "naraku no soko" in December. Hiro left Laputa shortly thereafter, and Junji then joined Laputa in January of 1994 as a replacement guitarist.The band released their first single "watashi ga kieru" in May of 1994. Hideno left in July of 1994, later joining visual band Merry Go Round. Kouichi joined Laputa in the same month. They released an indie video titled "Paradoxical Reality" in September of 1994. Kusuba left Laputa on in the begining of 1995, so Junji switched instruments and became Laputa’s bassist.
Laputa from then on would maintain th e same lineup, releasing a handful of albums and singles under the label Toshiba-EMI, and later Nippon Crown. Laputa disbanded in 2004.

Thoughts
Laputa is a good visual kei band. The vocals and music featured aren’t particulary spectacular, but do incorporate some nice rock melodies that are nice to listen to. Their guitarist adds a lot to their music with his sweet solos.Click to read/add your opinion!
