With the divorce of his parents at age 13, Jay whom was already quiet natured became even more secluded and deeply involved in music. But music wasnt his only passion. Basketball was his second love. A game in which he enjoyed playing with his friends.
A fellow schoolmate taking part in a singing contest signed Jay up to accompany her on the piano. Although the performance wasnt the greatest, Jacky Wu, the host of the contest, was quite impressed with Jays musical score choice. This lead to Jay landing a small job in the music industry as a songwriter. Hours upon hours of time spent writing music soon payed off and Jays career as a musician began. Jacky Wu was even further impressed by Jays singing abilities and on November 1, 2000 his first debut album titled Jay was released.
His second album and the one that would give him a major boost into stardom, Fantasy, was released on September 20, 2001. The album helped him to win numerous awards including five Golden Melody Awards. Something that rarely happens to anyone new to music such as he was.
After years of working in music and numerous album releases later Jay decided to give acting a shot and starred as himself in the 2003 flick, Hidden Track. But music was still a big part of his life when he composed and recorded the movies soundtrack. His next movie role will be in Initial D where he will playing the main character. He is also currently working on his next album.
