Profile
Jal is a Pakistani band hailing from Lahore. They formed in 2002 when Goher Mumtaz recorded a song called,"Aadat". He began looking for band members and found Shazi Aamir and Atif Aslam who were both attending universities in Lahore. Pretty soon, "Aadat" was recorded with the full band and launched by a local Pakistani website. It enjoyed great success and even greater success when the video was released in 2003. It was voted the 4th best music video of 2003 by Musik, a Pakistani music channel similar to MTV and Fuse. But beacuse of musical differences, Atif Aslam left the band. He currently has a solo project going is doing very well. After Atif Aslam left, Farhad was introduced to them by Sultan, bassist for a popular Rock band Call, and became the new voice for Jal.
Jal does not have a drummer but instead uses Waqar Khan, drummer for another popular Rock band Entity Paradigm, for recording and live concerts. Jal won the award for best Indian artist, even though they are a Pakistani band, at the MTV Asian Music Awards. They also won the award for best Rock band at the Indus Music Awards. Jal has seen a lot of success across South Asia, especially in India, and has done a lot of humanitarian work. Jal is releasing a new album soon,
Payal.

Thoughts
Jal is a very good band. They have a Latin acoustic style mixed with a tiny bit of Pakistani Folk music and Alternative Rock. Its really amazing. I havent heard much from their new vocalist, but Atif Aslam is amazing.
