Higurashi Aiha
Vocals/Composer: Higurashi Aiha
Started: 1993
Status: Active
Profile
Higurashi Aiha first started out her career as the lead singer for the indie rock group Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her. After composing several albums, the band decided to split up in 2002. Aiha decided to pursue a solo career and was quickly signed to Sony Music Entertainment.
Aiha debuted with the single "New Life" in 2003. Although it didnt rank very high on the music charts, it gained the attention of another singer, Yuki. At her request, Aihas song "the end of shite" was used in Yukis debut single. Aiha continued to produce new songs, but encountered little success.
Around the release of her second album "Platonic", Aiha formed a new band called LOVES with old friend Akiyama Takahiko. Her band recieved a contract from Ki/oon records and released their first album in 2007. For the time being, LOVES has taken priority over Aihas solo career.

Thoughts
Aihas music tends to combine electronic sounds, psychedelic melodies, and indies rock. Its a strange combination in writing, and somewhat strange when you listen to it too. "New Life" is one of her most poppish songs, and she seems to have abandoned that sound over the years. Overall, I can see why she has diverted her attention towards a new band rather than her solo career.
