Profile
Going Under Ground has five band members that all graduated from the Saitama prefecture in Okegawa, Japan. At first, the band started out rough. Their drummer, Takehiro, joined the band to replace Yoichis spot because he had left to concentrate on school work along with Satoshi. When the two returned, Yoichi began to focus on keyboard, leaving the drums to Takehiro. While gaining popularity as an Indies band, G.U.G. released their own mini album titled
Cello. Afterwards, the group then went on a nation tour. However, G.U.G. really started making a name for itself with the album
Going Under Ground. It hit Oricons chart, and since then their releases have recieved higher and higher rankings.
Thoughts
Going Under Ground has a style very similar to AKG. I would have to say that the most apparrent differences are the lack of shouting and the laid back melodies. Going Under Grounds songs have a very laid back feel to them. The guitarists play some nice riffs, but nothing as fast paced as AKG. Going Under Ground has some great hits. Below, I have picked the song
Boys Life for you to try out. It is one of Going Under Grounds more fast paced songs and I think the melody is rather playful and inviting. Enjoy!
