Profile

Globe is a Japanese pop band consisting of Tetsuya Komuro Keiki Yamada and Marc Panther was formed in 1995. Former member who joined the band back in 2002 was X Japan’s leader, drummer and pianist, Hayashi Yoshiki, who left after being with Globe for a year. The band’s debut album, Globe, was released in March 31, 1996 and it was sold for more than 4 million copies. They hold a massive tour called globe@4domes, which they performed at the biggest domes in Japan at Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Tokyo, after releasing their second album, FACES PLACES.

The band’s direction was more into the trance when they released Lights and Lights2 in 2002. During the time with Yoshiki as part of the band, they worked on a single called Seize the Light, which Yoshiki created and was produced by Komuro. The album 8 Years ~Many Classic Moments~ was release in commemoration of Globe’s eight year anniversary. It topped the Oricon charts at #2. After the release of LEVEL 4 and Get it on featuring KEIKO, they went on hiatus and which they came back in 2005 by releasing their single, Here I Am. They recently released a mini album, NEW DEAL, on August 9, 2006 which songs contained some Spanish phrases.

Thoughts

Globe is in many ways like a ’modern’ Every Little Thing band. Like ELT, the band focuses heavily on pop songs with a female vocalist as the center of attention. Many of their releases also have some form of trance integrated into the music. Overall they are not bad, but not the best band out there either.
