Profile

Ghost is a psychedelic/noise band formed in 1984 in Tokyo. They released 6 albums over a period of 20 years and have toured the US like many other noise bands from Japan. The original lineup consisted of Masaki Batoh, Junzo Tateiwa, Kazuo Ogino, Takuyuki Moriya, and Taishi Takizawa. After some disputes came up after touring for a while, Masaki decided to break the band up. But a few years later, Ghost came back a few years later after Masaki wanted to have an acoustic album recorded. So he brought with him Kazuo and Michio Kurihara. They recorded an album called Free Tibet which was a sort of tribute to the Dalai Lama. The new band has released 2 albums ever since.

My Thoughts

Ghost is a good band. Their songs vary like many other noise bands. Some are slow prog and kraut-rock songs. Some are faster more psychedelic noise songs. They utilize some ancient Japanese instruments in some of their songs, and the vocals which you don’t hear too much, are good. If you’re familiar with the Boredoms, you will like this band!
