This is one of my favorite Japanese power metal bands, because Yama-B’s vocals are very deep and operatic, although not quite like Masterpiece’s, but still very good.

Syu, a guitarist and 22 years old, met up with Yama-B, one of Japan’s most reknown vocalists in metal, and formed in 2001 a band. Eventually, they released a CD-r demo in the Kansai area called "United Flag" and it sold 1000 copies in 1 month! They then held live concerts and at the end of the year they attended the "Melodic Metal Convention" and then released "Rebel Flag". Unknown as to what reward, but Syu was awarded ... an award for being "the best guitarist" in the area/Japan of the year. Neo-Classical is a term used for those influenced by Ygnwie Malmstein, who obviously created the genre.

Eventually, Tsui, Yuhki, and Junichi Sato are added, presumeably on recommendation of Yama-B. Recently, they released "Advance to the Fall", but "The Flag of Punishment" was released in 2003 and widely accepted as one of the best power metal releases of the year.

My Thoughts

I’m pretty picky about what metal bands I like, but Galneryus is rather good! Their guitar player is absolutely amazing! He does some crazy stuff that is unbelievable. In addition, their vocalist is quite good too. Galneryus’ music ranges from ballads to upbeat, fast paced songs. One of my favorite songs is "Eternal Regret". Please listen to the samples below!
