Fishmans formed in 1987 while Sato, Motegi, and Ojima were attending Meiji Gakuin University. They were signed to various indie labels until they made their major label debut with Polydor Records in 1995. In 1998 they decided to break up. They played a very long and emotional last show on December 28th, 1998 at Akasaka Blitz. On March 15th, 1999, Shinji Sato passed away. But Fishmans didn’t die along with Sato there. In November of 2005, Kashiwabara and Motegi along with guests such as UA played tribute to Fishmans at the Rising Sun Rock festival.Wonsan Underground
Thoughts
Fishmans is a great band. They play really relaxing reagge/dub that’s great to cheer you up. Spacey riffs and great mixing helps to create the great atmosphere in their songs. Definitely check them out, especially if you’re sad.Click to read/add your opinion!
