
After going through various members the band developed their official line up in 1995 when Kei Horiguchi on guitar, Naoki Uchida on dub controls, Mitsuhiro Toike on keyboards and the vocal duos of Likkle Mai and Ao Inoue joined the band.
Dry & Heavy, their first self titled album was also released in 1995 on Olive. With their fresh sound and deep knowledge of dub roots the band quickly gained a lot of attention.
In 1998 Dry & heavy signed with indie label Beat Ink and released One Punch. Their first number one hit soon followed in 1999 with their single Radical Star.
In 2000 the band toured Europe and performed in Hong Kong with Primal Scream. During this time their first album Full Contact was released.
With the help of their heavy dub effects and spirited performances during their lives, the group gained a steady following.
In 2001 dub legend King Jimmy recorded with Dry & Heavy. They also shared the stage with other famous reggae artists such as Lee Perry and Horace Andy. And performed at Japans largest rock festival, Fuji Rock. During the show bassist Takeshi Akimoto announced unexpectedly that he was leaving the band which lead to some shows being cancelled. Former Audio Active bassist Pata took over on bass.
In 2000 their 4th album Dub Creation was released along with a remixed dub version. The album also contained a cover of The Doors Riders On The Storm.
In 2002 Dry & Heavy performed at the WOMAD festivals in Spain and the Canary Islands.
In 2003 the band performed at Australias Big Day Out festival and opened for Japans highly regarded Asian Dub Foundation.
