Profile

Do As Infinity was at one time only a idea for composer, Nagao Dai. In his early days Nagao Dai was the leader of a indies band that eventually disbanded. After the breakup, he continued to compose songs and sent samples to over fifty record companies! AVEX hired him as a composer and he recieved the chance to work with artists such as Ayumi Hamasaki and Hitomi. In 1999 AVEX gave Dai an opportunity to form his own band and auditions were held. He choose two talented people. Together they released their first single in September 1999 as Do As Infinity. The band was a hit! Since their initial success, Dai has taken a less active role in the band and usually only participates in the composing of their songs and concerts.

Update: Do As Infinity are officially now broken up as of the end of 2005. All three members agreed to break up in order to pursue their own solo careers. Ryo is now in a band called Missile Innovation and Van is working on a solo career.

Thoughts

The last time I listened to Do As Infinity, they appeared to be a very laid back pop group; However, when someone suggested them I was blown away. DOA has really picked up the pace. Their songs are fun and some even border on a rock theme. The vocalist, Tomiko, is very interesting because she has a fairly deep voice for a female singer. It gives DOA's music an really interesting touch. Below is a sample of their song New World (Album Version). This is a fun, rockish song that fans are sure to love :)
