Profile
Dubbing their music "Jawaiian reggae", Def Tech compose upbeat music that has its ties to hip hop and the reggae scene. Micro, born in Tokyo, and Shen, raised in Hawaii, both speak English and Japanese fluently, giving their songs an extra edge in both the Eastern and Western world.
Both boys come from an island-lifestyle background. Micro, who became attached to Bob Marleys song "Kaya" at the age of two, visited Hawaii frequently and found a love for surfing. The same can be said of Shen, whose life growing up in Hawaii made him an ideal surfer boy. This surfing/island connection between the two is what brings Def Tech together, as many of their songs reflect that lifestyle.
Def Techs 2005 self-titled debut album was a resounding success, with over 1.5 million copies sold and a constant #1 position on music charts. Their second album, "Lokahi Lani", broke the Indies record for initial sales.
