Death Metal

Definition: Death metal is often defined by its fast percussion, blast beats, and ferocity. Its guitar and drumwork tends to be very complex and plays to a fast tempo. In addition, vocals consist almost entirely of grunts, growls, and harshly spoken lyrics. Of all of the genres of metal, this tends to be the darkest in terms of the themes portrayed through its lyrics. Often times lyrics will include mentions of Satanism, nihilism, mythology, violence, and mysticism.
