Profile

They used to be under the name "Compromises You Need", but changed it in 1996 to "Coffins". Their influence was mainly aimed to sound like "Swans" and "Scorn". After many line-up changes, You takes the drums and then focused on a more doom rock/metal style. They never did a live for quite some time. Eventually, each band member became involved in other bands and was put on hold around 2000. In 2003, they finally did their first live, and thanks to the other bands the members had been in, their style changed to a sound much like "Celtic Frost" and "Hellhammer". The line-up for the bassist changed and a new bassist was added. Soon after, "Oppression Freedom Oppression" was planned for release in 2004, but it was never released. They started tours in Japan, Tokyo especially, and their bassist left in 2005. Koreda joined as the new bassist in January, 2006.

My Thoughts

I didn’t care for Coffins at all. I thought that the harsh vocals were horrible. The background music was atrocious and too generic as well.
