Profile
Charon formed in 1998 by Takemoto, Saiki, Ishida, and Murakami. Takemoto left the band soon after, so Ishida took over the vocals. They had their first live performance in the summer of 1999 and released their first demo-tape that same year. That demo tape, self titled as Charon, contained three well produced (as well as self-produced) original songs. In 2002, they released their first album, Origin of Evil, which was received well. They released a mini-album in 2003, called Truth or Vanity. Although most of the songs were live, it gained good success because of their last album.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, the band split up in March of 2004. It has been rumored that most of the members formed and/or joined other bands. It is known, however, that their drummer Yuto Saiki joined the band Detritum.
I am rather unhappy about them splitting up, because the band had incredible talent. Truly, I am not impressed by most death metal drumming, but Yuto Saiki was very good. On top of that, many death metal bands end up having clearer guitars and vocals than drums and the drums are usually just background noise. This band self-produced their own music and did well to make sure every instrument sounded just as impressive as the other.
Note: As I said with Ghoul, I seriously do not expect you to like death metal. Unlike Ghoul, these songs are NOT instrumental. Although their vocalist is not the typical death metal vocalist (more of a hardcore vocalist trying REALLY hard to sound like death) its going to be a unique listen. Chances are, you wont like it first listen, second, or even the tenth. Death metal is something you usually ease somebody into. Unlike me who loved harsh vocals since I first heard them, many people go from hard rocks nu-metal (like Slipknot) and then go to metalcore (like Zao or Trivium) and are usually introduced to real metal. Others go from rock to heavy metal, which is very similiar, then to power metal. From power metal, they are likely to run across harsh vocals and ease their way into black or melo-death.
You have heard some of Sighs harsh vocals, but consider that absolutely nothing when compared to death metal.

Thoughts
I really dont care for Charon too much. The vocals are too harsh and you cant understand what they are singing about. In addition, the music is just okay.
